Meet our fellow outfitter and trailblazer Gail Shafer, founder of Ride Pine Flow. Gail is our local mountain biking instructor and guide. Gail has been exploring our trails in Mount Laguna for 30+ years with over 15 years of guiding experience in MTB recreation services including leading guided rides as an Adventure Director in Malibu and volunteering for the Mountain Bike Unit (MBU) in the Santa Monica Mountains. She has a Level 1 Bike Instructor Certification (BICP) through the International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA) with experience as a mountain bike instructor for beginner to advanced students; including 5 years of lead instruction with Ninja Mountain Bike Performance and 4 years of instruction and guiding under permit with the Cleveland National Forest here in Mount Laguna as owner of Ride Pine Flow.
Gail provides a host of services for all ages and skill levels including; private instruction, bike skills clinics, technical terrain training, group instruction and youth bike classes as a charter school vendor. She offers the following guided packages:
Noble Canyon Guided Ride
3-4hr guided ride down Noble Canyon Trail from Mount Laguna to Noble Canyon TH in Pine Valley. Maximum 4 riders.
- Bike Check and Pre-Ride Assessment
- Level 1 BICP certified lead guide with First Aid/CPR trained sweep.
- Experienced local trail knowledge including line choice suggestions to help clients clear features, and basic on-trail mechanical support.
Private MTB Trail Guide
All mountain bike trails in the Mount Laguna recreational area excluding Noble Canyon. Maximum 4 riders. Larger groups can be arranged upon request.

Private MTB Lessons
RPF offers mountain bike instruction for all levels and ages. Lessons include a tailored instructional plan that may include both bike skills training in a select location and/or on-trail instruction. Maximum 2 riders.
- Beginner Fundamentals – Bike/body Position, braking, shifting, safe dismounting, tight turns, basic wheel lifts.
- Cornering
- Technical Terrain (Climbing/Descending) with advanced wheel lifts
- Steep Transitions/Drops
Intro to Jumping Lesson
Covers wheel lifts including manual and bunny hop. This clinic breaks down jumping step by step from rolling a 3 foot table top to possibly clearing a 5-foot gap jump depending on the safe progression of each clinic. Instruction includes real time video feedback. All jumping instruction is completed on MTB hopper ramps. Maximum 4 riders.
